Older People's Forum
"A Forum, a Network and a Voice – Representing You to the People with Power"
"Working for a Fair Income and a Better Quality of Life for All Bristol’s Over 55s"
About the Forum
The Older People's Forum has always been independent of the Council. It began in 1993, and grew directly from the European Year of Older People which took place that year.
Our founders' hopes were to raise the political profile of older people, locally, nationally and internationally, and to achieve for Bristol pensioners the same rights, influence, security and income enjoyed by older people in other European countries. We still have a long way to go.
The Forum meets every two months. We also have a management committee, which meets monthly, as well as a number of action groups.
We publish a free quarterly newsletter, and maintaina close relationship with the council, with Age Concern and Help the Aged.
Membership is open to everybody aged 55 or over. There is no membership fee.
