Licensing of lap dancing clubs

The Women’s Forum has campaigned locally on this issue for five years through statements to Committees, Full Council, raising petitions and responding to consultations. This year the breakthrough came as the Forum brought the government’s national consultation on licensing reform to the attention of the Council and also submitted a petition to Full Council. The Chief Executive and Chair of the Licensing Committee responded enthusiastically in favour of reform.

The Women’s Forum is delighted by Government’s announcement.

However, there are moves nationally to dilute the licensing reform. It is crucial that pressure is kept up via MPs.
